Ron Spangler Memorial Scholarship Fund

“Mr. Spangler,” also known as “Coach Spangler,” was a Bradley County Schools teacher throughout his entire career as an educator. His journey began at Trewhitt Junior High School, followed by Charleston High School, where he served as a math teacher and coach for basketball, baseball, and football. Mr. Spangler was then promoted to assistant principal and principal of his beloved Ocoee Middle School for the final twenty years of his career.

Mr. Spangler leaves behind a tremendous legacy for his Ocoee Middle School family as he was not only the principal, but he was also a mentor, father figure, and friend to all. Words cannot come close to describing his impact on the faculty, staff, and students. Honest and kind, humble and wise… He was a man of character, but one never heard him boast. He possessed a servant’s heart by selflessly putting others first, and many of his actions to aid those in need were done without recognition or others even knowing. A man of Mr. Spangler’s caliber cannot and will not be forgotten. To ensure that the Spangler legacy lives on, we created this scholarship in his memory—may it impact others and represent all the good that was poured from our once-in-a-lifetime leader.
