The Community Foundation is very important to the non-profit world because they help us to make connections with donors and private foundations that have a philanthropic focus that matches our missions. Securing grants enable non-profits to cover operational costs, hire skilled personnel, and invest in infrastructure. Grants also offer non-profits the flexibility to innovate and adapt to emerging needs, fostering sustainability and long-term impact. The Community Foundation is also a great resource for non-profits with programs like the non-profit seminars and Sip & Shares. At the non-profit seminars non-profits receive valuable training and professional development all at no cost to us. Without the foundation will would not able to afford to spend staff to training like these. The Sip & Share are wonderful opportunities to network with other non-profits in our community, we share ideas and other resources with each We are so grateful to have the Community Foundation as a resource. The Community Foundation of Cleveland/Bradley County has served as an invaluable partner to the mission of The Caring Place to provide the basic resources and opportunities our neighbors need. The foundation’s ability to connect individuals who care with opportunities at our organization has tremendously increased our capacity to serve those in need. For example, in the COVID pandemic, our local emergency shelter had to limit services to achieve social distancing recommendations. With those experiencing homelessness at an historic high, the Community Foundation helped to bridge the gap through partnership with over five non-profit organizations, the local government, and individuals who cared to create the first community cold weather shelter. That year, over 95 individuals were provided a safe and warm place to sleep during freezing temperatures. In addition, the Foundation created a community resiliency fund to help stabilize families that experienced job loss, illness, or other unexpected expenses. Through supportive seminars, networking events, and creative partnerships like that of the Resiliency fund and Cold Weather Shelter, the Community Foundation of Cleveland/Bradley County has helped The Caring Place better serve our neighbors in need.
