Wildcat Gridiron Club
The Wildcat Gridiron Club has served as the football booster club for Polk County High School’s Wildcat football team for over 25 years. They oversee the Wildcat Café on Friday night home games, as well as manage various other fundraisers for the team, including the always popular Vidalia onion sale every spring. Proceeds go directly back to the football program, including uniforms, equipment, field maintenance, and other expenses necessary to run a successful program. In addition, the Gridiron Club feeds all the seniors and school faculty for graduation practice each year. The Club also partners with other athletic programs at the school to provide financial donations, including the cheerleaders, band, and soccer programs. To date, Polk County High School football requires no equipment fee from players. All equipment is provided, with the exception of cleats, socks, and any undershirts or leggings the player may want. It is imperative to the Gridiron Club that they be able to continue this, as a rural school like Polk County High School would not be able to successfully field a team of 50+ players if fees were necessary to play.
