The Cleveland Amateur Radio Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Formed in 1962 by a diverse group of individuals interested in public service and the advancement of the hobby. The club’s primary role is to provide communications and manpower in emergency situations and public service events. Locally we are associated with the Red Cross and Bradley County Emergency Management Agency. Our capabilities are independent of local infrastructure (electric service, land line phone, or cell service) in that we can provide communications across town, state, country or around the world.

Amateur radio operators also known as “hams” are a diverse group of people from all walks of life including doctors, lawyers, engineers and elected officials. All amateur radio operators are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and must follow their guidelines. There are more than 3 million ‘hams’ in the world and over 700,000 in the United States.

The Cleveland Amateur Radio Club has a physical location at 560 Johnson Blvd S.E. Cleveland, Tn. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the months January thru November. Testing is also provided for those wishing to be licensed on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Other information is available on the club website.
