The Cleveland Dog Park Grand Opening
Many four legged and two legged residents gathered on May 27 for the ribbon cutting for the new Cleveland Dog Park at Tinsley Park. The park is a partnership between the city of Cleveland and private donors.
“This really wouldn’t have happened without the whole community being involved,” project chair John Sheehan said. He thanked the city of Cleveland for supporting the project and the numerous donors who gave to the project to make the park a reality.
Construction began last fall as tons of earth were brought in to raise the area, followed by fresh topsoil and sod. The park features:
- Large Dog Area – .59 acres for dogs over 30 pounds
- Small Dog Area – .33 acres for dogs under 30 pounds
- Six foot tall vinyl coated chain-link fence
- Two gazebo/shelter areas
- 12 park benches
- Watering stations for both dogs and people
Mayor Tom Rowland thanked John Sheehan spearheading the project and creating a new community asset.
The Cleveland Dog Park is a Project of the Community Foundation. Donation opportunities are still available to support the park additions and ongoing maintenance. For more information, visit Cleveland Dog Park page on the Foundation website.
Congratulations — and thanks — to those who have made the dog park a reality.
